Art That Blooms with Sue Knowles

Where beauty lingers, even on the walls.

As a bridal designer, I’m always drawn to detail: the soft layering of a skirt, the curve of a sleeve, the way light moves through fabric. So it’s no surprise that I’ve fallen completely in love with the floral artworks now gracing the studio by local artist Sue Knowles.

Based just outside Christchurch in Ladbrooks, Sue paints blooms grown in her own garden. Lush roses, peonies, and old-world florals, captured in their most fleeting, radiant moments. Her work brings a quiet stillness to the studio. It adds warmth, softness, and a sense of calm that seems to wrap around each fitting, reflecting everything we believe about beauty here at Wild & White, grounded, personal, and softly wild.

Sue’s vibrant, large-scale floral paintings bring the beauty of her rural Christchurch garden into any space. Rooted in her horticulture background, she captures the evolving colors of roses and peonies in rich, oil-on-canvas strokes that radiate light and serenity. Each piece—often a single bloom in intimate close-up—feels like a serene moment plucked from nature, imbuing interiors with calm elegance deepened by her personal connection to every petal.

These paintings do more than decorate the space. They become part of the experience. Brides often pause to take them in, and I love that. Because your wedding dress journey should feel as considered and lovely as the dress itself.

With heartfelt thanks to Sue Knowles for letting her garden bloom in our space.
